Weaver - going for gold!

We are committed to climate action and corporate social responsibility and as part of our sustainability journey, we’re delighted to announce we’ve achieved gold status Weaver Certification.

Weaver is a social sustainability programme for businesses developed by Office Friendly in partnership with independent sustainability consultancy, Avieco.

It helps businesses implement sustainable practices relating to carbon footprint, waste management, single-use packaging, sustainable products and social responsibility. To find out more about our practices, goals and achievements in all five sustainability areas, please refer to our policies and further information below.

Reduce

Focusing on areas where we can reduce our consumption of raw materials, fuel and energy is the first step in improving our environmental impact and reducing our carbon footprint.

Reuse

Extending the life of packaging and products such as toners through reuse, as well as eliminating single-use plastics, minimises waste and the demand for further manufacturing.

Recycle

Working alongside our registered waste disposal partner, we achieve 0% waste to landfill, as well as recycling all cardboard, stretch-wrap, paper and toner cartridges used on-site.

We will continue with an objective to reduce our carbon footprint by at least 5% on an annual basis through a series of initiatives including but not limited to our vehicle fleet; energy sources to our buildings; buying locally where possible and reducing, reusing; and recycling throughout the business where possible.

Social Responsibility

We believe that social responsibility is about working together to implement our ESG strategies that will have a long-term impact and the wider communities we serve. We have a series of Social Responsibility Champions throughout the business to ensure that our policies are successfully implemented.

Charity Matters VIEW STRATEGY

We reduce, reuse and recycle providing recycling bins across all our sites. We recycle 100% of our toners, paper and batteries, over 500 tons of cardboard each year and over 50 tons of stretch wrap.

550 tons, that’s the equivalent to the weight of 133 adult male hippos.

We source products which are manufactured by methods that are less harmful to the worlds resources and are looking to introduce more environmentally-friendly ranges.

Our catalogue includes over 3,000 sustainable eco-friendly, recycled, Fairtrade and PEFC products.

All of the particle board we use is both FSC and PEFC compliant.

FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) schemes are non-profit organisations concerned with ensuring the responsible and sustainable management of forests.

Greener deliveries

Environmentally friendly deliveries are key to a sustainable future and that’s why we’ve actively review our delivery routes to help reduce our carbon footprint through a more efficient use of our vehicles. We aim to lower our CO2 emissions, improve driver behaviours and ultimately increase efficiency.

Reviewing our driver behaviours and vehicle use over time enables us to adjust the causes of excess emissions. Performance and improvements can be monitored over time. Clearly there are corresponding reductions in fuel usage and tyre wear along with a reduced impact on already congested roads.

We have replaced 90% of our delivery fleet with Bluemotion vehicles which use the most up to date technology to improve efficiencies and our aim is to reach 100% as soon as possible.

In a nutshell, green delivery is all about the most efficient way of transporting items and in addition to vehicle tracking we also look at clustering deliveries together and ask our customers to build their orders as much as possible to combine deliveries.
